Somers Residents Association History ![]() Photo by Somers resident, Rod Nuske. Used with kind permission. |
The Somers Residents Association (SRA) had its origins with a small group of community-minded residents who formed a committee and consequently registered the SRA as an incorporated body in 2002. It was deemed that the raison d'etre for the formation of the SRA was to represent all Somers residents in community matters. The Objectives of the SRA are:
to investigate concerns of residents about matters which may affect their well-being or lifestyles; to support proposals toward the preservation of the natural environment , in balance with the needs of the community; to examine actions of authorities, organisations or companies in matters affecting residents; to investigate proposals of Local, State or Federal Governments affecting Somers; and to represent all Somers residents in community matters. From humble beginnings in 2002, the SRA membership base has grown to over 600 members representing a wide cross-section of the Somers community. |
